At Regal Chess, we offer a captivating twist on the classic game of chess. Set in the middle ages, players can deploy their armies and test their strategic skills with ancient rules that add depth to each match.

Regal Chess play
Based in the middle ages Regal Chess is an exciting, new chess variant. The Regal Chess board is 16x16. At the center of the board, an 8x8 area exists. In this area, medieval rules apply once you deploy your army, e.g.. moving your pawns into strategic and tactical positions. Furthermore, when you move your King into the center area, your Pawns have the ability to move and take pieces like the King. Pawns can move and take pieces backwards and sideways. Conversely, when the Queen advances to the center area, the Knights gain the ability to move and take pieces like the King. The knights can move in all directions. When the King or Queen leaves the center area, the pawns and Knight lose their new found abilities.
The larger board accommodates each teams larger size which includes twice the number of noble pieces as well as two rows of pawns. Strategy and tactics change in order to take advantage and beat the opposition. The game comes with an extra queen (Duke) so you could have two sets of regular chess men in the conflict.
